Bob provides workshops for professionals, registered interns, and students based upon the Existential Humanistic Perspective.

Existential-Humanistic Training & Case Consultation Group

Bob offers a training and case consultation group for professionals on the Existential-Humanistic Perspective. The training portion of the group is based upon The Art of the Psychotherapist by James F.T. Bugental, Ph.D. This will consist of a dialogue and experiential exercises appropriate to each chapter to develop the skills of that chapter. The case consultation portion of the group will consist of exploring, on a rotating basis, individual cases from the participants’ caseloads through role playing and feedback.

  • A 16-week professional development series - meets every other week
  • Offered annually since 1995
  • Next opening: October 2007 - May 2008
  • Group limited to 6 members - early registration recommended
  • 40 CEU’s available as this training is co-sponsored by the Oregon Counseling Association, which is recognized by the NBCC to offer CEU’s for National Certified Counselors through NBCC Provider Number 2038

Authentic Engagement: A Radical Way of Being in the World

  • A 1-day personal growth workshop focusing on self discovery and authentic relating

How to Deepen Your Therapeutic Work Using the Existential Humanistic Perspective

  • A 1-day workshop exploring key principles of the Existential-Humanistic Perspective through lecture, discussion, demonstration, and experiential exercises.
  • Therapists will become aware of the importance of working with the here and now in both the intra-psychic and interpersonal realms within the therapeutic container
  • Therapists will understand the need for client resistances and learn ways to effectively engage with these resistances to facilitate growth

The Existential-Humanistic Perspective: Embracing the Lived Experience of All Humans

  • A 2 hour workshop in which professionals will learn what the subjective is, and its importance for more fulfilled living
  • Professionals will experience for themselves what it means to be in their subjectivity
  • Professionals will learn ways the client resists being in their subjectivity and interventions they can use to help the client move through their resistances

On Being Fully Present in a Fragmented World

  • A 2-hour workshop using dialogue to explore the importance of being fully present in our world, with an awareness of the obstacles that inhibit maintaining full presence
  • Explore presence through the psychological lens of Carl Rogers and Jim Bugental
  • Explore presence through the spiritual lens of Pema Chodron and Eckhart Tolle.
